Blood Moon News - new season
Dear supporters (or detractors) of Blood Moon,
we hope you've made it through the summer hikes, heat and storms in good health! In a few days, another school year starts, which of course brings with it another season of Magic events and tournaments. And what exactly can we look forward to?
Draft
Draft? There will be! But first, we have to set the record straight: in the last issue of BM News you could read about the drafts being moved to the DEKL boardgame club. We mentioned that an exception was negotiated and the drafts will be at the same price as the Bloodmoon ones. Unfortunately, it turned out that this "arranged and confirmed exception" was just wishful thinking of the local MTG section, which was never agreed upon by the club management. We are sorry, but at least everyone can make their own picture of the situation. So our Draft remains at Grey Cliff.
You can look forward to the current edition drafts, which will be newly interspersed with various embellishments - flashback, chaos or cube drafts, or some nice sealed ones. The first one will be the Bloomburrow draft right at the beginning of September, and the others will be added to the Tournaments section of the site gradually, depending on what the Blood Moon draft boss has in store for us.
Duels
Duel Commander, according to the French Commission's rules and banlist, continues to grow, as can be seen from either the addition of the format on Magic Online or the planned November tournament in Toulouse for Black Lotus. We too will continue our Saturday Duels approximately every fortnight, dates and sign-ups can be found here on the website. The established Blood Moon points remain as prizes, Prizewall is newly added, so you can look forward to a fresh batch of fancy glitter cards!
And for Duels, we're planning to introduce a new feature to the trial run as well. The aforementioned growth of the format has resulted in so-called "meta decks" appearing in large numbers at our tournaments as well. Which can be a barrier for potential new players. They are then pushed in the same direction, playing with a less optimized deck is a handicap for them, and it can be very costly to buy the cards they are missing (ahem.. duals ahem..). That's why we've decided to allow up to 15 proxy cards at our Duels. But be warned, only proxy quality cards are allowed, those who come with them will be required to report them to the judge before the start, who will check that everything is ok, with the understanding that any non-compliant ones will have to be replaced by the player (the card must not stand out from the shuffled deck and must be clearly identifiable in the game). For any questions/clarifications on this topic, please feel free to contact us.
So called "First Czech Republic Duel Commander Championship"
As if another in a series of duels at Prague's Vinohrady Brewery, but this time with higher entry fees, more loaded prizes, on 22 September - Sunday (?!). Matouš will be judging the tournament, Kryštof and Marek will try to at least repeat their Top 8 placings from the last Prague. So we hope to see some of you there!
Our busy schedule this weekend unfortunately also means that we won't be hosting the preview edition of Duskmourne. Here we leave the initiative to other associations and secret societies that might be interested in organising something like this. And if they want to, we offer them our Blood Moon Discord to promote the event, where we now have a channel directly dedicated to anyone who is organizing a Magic event and wants to spread the word. We're happy to welcome anyone to the Discord, discuss anything and answer any questions.
So come play, and MTG is a success!
Your Blood Moon
