Blood Moon News - Autumn 2025

Dear Magic players,

Summer is definitely over and the weather for trips to the countryside is often not so ideal. That's why Blood Moon is here again, offering you the chance to spend some quality time in the best company with your favourite Magic: Universes Beyond card game! - I mean, er... Magic: the Gathering!

Limited

Wizards is still keeping up the pace of releasing new editions, which means a variety of Tuesday drafts, which will be interspersed with drafts of various older editions. Currently, that means the chance to play with cards from Spider-Man or Streets of New Capenna. Then, in mid-November, everything will change when the Nation of Fire attacks - and we'll see if there's anyone who can stand up to the Fire Lord.

Unfortunately, it's not currently within our means to secure a Prefect, but if you keep an eye on Facebook or advertise on our Discord, there's a good chance that a possibility will land there in a shower of hooves.

Duels

Duel Commander is still looking great (apart from a certain minor issue, which is more fleshed out in the last section of the newsletter). Once again, Relic Fest's biggest tournament is coming up, where the best of the best will show up and compete for the Black Lotus in a tournament that saw nearly 1000 duelists last year! We can definitely look forward to some interesting games and decklists, the meta is beautifully wide and there are plenty of quality commander decks and options to build decks with them.

We still have Saturday duels, listed here on the website in the Tournaments section, as well as Tuesday practice sessions. We'd love to see you at one, the other, or both! And if you have the time and inclination, we also recommend visiting tournaments in other places: e.g. in Prague there is something happening every now and then, such as the Najáda Liga (whose final tournament in December will feature someone from South Bohemia!).

Prizewall

Our Blood Moon points system remains unchanged, of course, and the prizewall boards, the contents of which can be seen here on the site, are once again packed with all sorts of pieces, including some unique alters. There is also still the option for those with a larger amount of points to contact prizewall master Matthew and arrange to get their hands on a specialty piece.

Duel Commander "drama"

The leadership of our popular Duel Commander (DC) format was caught in an unpleasant incident. The person who was in charge of technical matters like the format's website and Facebook pages decided to kick all members but himself off the DC committee, which looks after the health of the format through bans and unbanning. He then put his announcement about it on the website (which has now been replaced by a warning about fake links spreading lies and confusion - lol), since he is the only one with admin rights.

However, the entire DC community, all the regional coordinators, moderators and players who have known about the leadership problems for quite some time, stood behind the "fired" committee members. It didn't take long before the new duelcommander.org website and the new official Discord were created. DC tournaments hosted by Blood Moon will be played under the rules and banlist from these sources.

That's it, if you have any questions, feel free to ask on our Blood Moon Discord (link above). We'll be happy to discuss or clarify anything you need!

So come play and MTG cheers!
